AP Bayhill to Add Two-Acre Short Game Facility PDF Print E-mail

March 18th, 9:01 a.m est

Facility Will Also See Upgraded Driving Range and Irrigation System

ORLANDO, March 17, 2018 – The Arnold Palmer Design Company,

a golf course architecture firm under the Arnold Palmer Group,

today announced in the spirit of its founder’s constant and never-

ending pursuit of perfection, Arnold Palmer’s Bay Hill Club & Lodge

will add an extensive two-acre short game facility and make

improvements to the driving range following the 2018 Arnold

Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard.

The initial enhancements will start with the short-game facility

and will feature four greens of varying shapes and sizes along

with a collection of bunkers built to different depths and design

styles to simulate on-course scenarios. For an image, click here.

"It is important for us to design a facility that showcases on-course

scenarios not only found at Bay Hill, but other situations players

would find when playing at other top clubs around the world,”

said Brandon Johnson, APDC architect and vice president. “The

new short game area will allow members and guests to get

lost in their practice sessions honing basic shots or experimenting

with a variety of recovery shots that incorporate flat pitch slopes,

nobs, false fronts, backboards and various bunkers styles."

To make way for the short game facility expansion, the ninth

hole on the Charger Course will be redesigned into an exciting

drivable par four. In addition, the Championship Course will

get a new state-of-the-art irrigation system installed. This new

system will allow the superintendent to manage water outputs

more efficiently and accurately resulting in firmer, faster playing

conditions on healthier turf grass.

Tony Finau Signs with Ping PDF Print E-mail

PING signs Tony Finau to equipment contract

PHOENIX (Jan. 30, 2018) – Tony Finau, a PGA Tour winner and

one of the longest hitters on tour, has signed a multi-year agreement

to represent PING, company President John K. Solheim announced

today. The 28-year-old Salt Lake City native led the just-completed

Farmers Insurance Open with an average drive of 325.6 yards and

is second on tour in average driving distance at 328.8 yards. He

switched to the new PING G400 Max driver at this season’s Sony

Open. He will make his debut as a PING Pro at this week’s Waste

Management Phoenix Open.

“Tony is very charismatic and has tremendous character,” Solheim

said. “He’s great with the fans and well-respected by his fellow tour

players. He’s one of the most athletic players on tour who uses his

strength to generate a lot of power -– he can really hit the ball a

long way and has the overall game to become a consistent winner

on tour. We’ve developed a great relationship with him in the last

year as he’s looked to play the best equipment available for his

game. We believe it’s a great fit for both of us.”

At 6' 4" and 200 pounds, Finau was a premier high school athlete

in several sports, most notably basketball. But golf was his first

passion, and he turned pro out of high school at age 17. He earned

his PGA Tour card for the 2015 season with a win on the Web.com

Tour in 2014. In 2016, he won the Puerto Rico Open on the PGA Tour.

“I’m honored to become part of the PING Tour team,” said Finau.

“The family atmosphere, people and core values at the company

really spoke to me. I’ve played their equipment for the last year

and have gotten to know their tour reps and the engineering team

in Phoenix very well in the process. I’m most impressed with their

passion for designing the best equipment in the game for golfers

of all skill levels, and I know that their commitment to properly

fitting and building equipment to fit my game will maximize my

confidence every time I step on the tee.”

As part of a multi-year agreement, Finau will carry a PING staff

bag and play a minimum of 11 PING clubs.

Financial terms and the length of the agreement were not disclosed.

Tour Edge Exotics CBX Gains More Traction at Season-Ending Champions Tour Event, Exotics CBX Iron-Wood Makes Debut on PGA TOUR in Mexico

Tour Edge finished the season strong on the PGA Champions Tour with one more CBX Exotics metalwood in play at the season-ending Charles Schwab Cup Championship this weekend.

The Exotics CBX fairway woods and hybrids are the first ever Titanium face, Stainless Steel body and Carbon Fiber sole hybrid design ever produced.

Despite the only consideration for playing the Exotics CBX fairway woods and hybrids being performance-based, the Exotics CBX ranked in the top eight models in play in both the hybrid and fairway wood model counts over the last four events of the season. Tour Edge had the 5th most metalwoods in play among active manufacturers over the last month on tour, according to the Darrel Survey.

Only players ranked in the Top 36 on the PGA Champions Tour made it to final event this week in Phoenix. Even when the stakes were highest at the end of the season, five new players that had never played a Tour Edge club in a professional event changed to the new Exotics CBX over the last four weeks of the Champions Tour.

Exotics CBX clubs earned three Top 5 finishes, four Top 10’s and five Top 20 finishes in the 2017 Champions Tour despite only being introduced to players at five total events this season.

Screen Shot 2017-11-17 at 12.36.02 PM.pngAlso this week on the professional tours for Tour Edge, an Exotics CBX Iron-Wood made its debut on the PGA TOUR at the OHL Classic in Mayakoba in the bag of the #1 ranked player on the 2017 PGA Tour Latino américa Tour.

“The entire Exotics CBX line was designed with the tour player in mind,” said Chief Designer and President of Tour Edge David Glod. “It was designed to spin less and with a forward CG. Now these spin-killing woods have taken on a life of their own as far as the buzz that’s out there on how they perform. We have received more requests from tour players, college golfers and mini-tour players on these products than anything else we have ever released and they are starting to make their way onto the PGA TOUR on their own accord.”

The new Exotics CBX fairway woods and hybrid were designed with a multi-material construction that includes the top of the line in Beta Titanium, Hyper Steel and Carbon Composite materials. This unique combination of three different materials helps produce a penetrating ball flight that cuts through windy conditions and lowers side spin rates for greater accuracy.

Screen Shot 2017-11-17 at 12.38.21 PM.pngThey are currently the only Titanium face fairway woods and hybrids available for sale in the U.S. market.

The Exotics CBX features a higher CG that is located slightly forward in the club head through the use of a carbon fiber in the sole, which is significantly lighter than stainless steel. This helps to increase ball speed and reduce spin, which makes for less dispersion. Tour Edge’s extremely thin Beta-titanium cup-face enlarges the ideal hitting area on the clubs. It is brazed to stainless steel behind the hitting area which allows the face to flex more at impact.

This has led to independent robot tests that have shown the Exotics CBX to average more than 16 yards longer in distance than several of the best selling fairway woods on the market. The Speed Ramp sole design on the Exotics CBX products provide reduced turf interaction so the club can maintain its speed through the hitting area.

The Exotics CBX Iron-Wood that was put into play on the PGA TOUR this week is a club that features a new ground-breaking high-tensile steel ‘L’ cup face design that pushes the classic iron-wood design to provide maximum forgiveness and explosiveness off the face. Delivering powerful distance with minimal spin, the CBX takes aim at players who want hybrid performance combined with the feel and workability of a traditional forged iron design.

The Tour Edge Exotics CBX fairway woods, Exotics CBX hybrids and Exotics CBX Iron-woods have already shipped to select authorized Tour Edge retailers and are available for purchase immediately. To find a Tour Edge retailer near you, call (800) 515-3343 or visit touredge.com
