MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Abraham Ancer was victorious at the FedEx St. Jude Invitational for his first PGA Tour win, Ancer defeated Sam Burns and Hideki Matsuyama on Sunday with a birdie on the second playoff hole. After the 30-year-old from Mexico rolled it in, Burns had a chance to answer but his 5 footer to stay alive lipped out. Ancer fired a 2-under 68 to tie Matsuyama (63) and Burns (64) at the end of regulation play (16-under par – 264 total).
Ancer became the fourth Mexican player to win on the PGA Tour, the former Oklahoma Sooner standout now vaults to 10th in the Official World Golf Ranking.
54 hole leader – Harris English, finished a stroke back in fourth after he struggled to card a 3 over par – 73.
Trailing by only two entering Sunday’s final round, the controversial bomber Bryson DeChambeau shot a four-over par 74 to tie for eighth at 12 under par.
