Jan.26 – Boston Common vs The Bay Golf Club.
Rory McIlroy and and Shane Lowery both flew 16 hours across the world in time to tee it up at the SoFi Center for a primetime TGL match on Monday evening, It was pretty clear early on, Shane had nothing left in the tank… and Rory looked sharp leading The Common to a 9-1 victory over The Bay GC.
Boston holds first place with a 2-0 record after finishing as cellar dwellars in Season 1. The boys from Beantown have dominated their opponents 16-6 and will face defending champions Atlanta Drive in their next SoFi appearance on 2/23. The Bay are 0-2 and will fight an uphill battle to make the postseason.
Rory joked afterward, that he handled the jet lag better because Shane doesn’t have his own plane (and flew home from Dubai on a commercial flight). Rory McIlroy, Keegan Bradley and newest Boston team member Michael Thorbjornsen put forth another dominant display Monday, cruising to a 9-1 victory over Wyndham Clark, Min Woo Lee and Lowery.

The 24-year-old Thorbjornsen remained hot with the flatstick on Monday, pouring a 14-foot birdie effort at the 7th to give Boston a 4-1 lead. They won the opening hole, and kept the pedal down with early hammer throws in the rout.
Keegan was full of praise for his young new England teammate. “Michael (Thorbjornsen) has been so good in here around the greens. … He’s also pretty good on the long shots too. He’s an incredible player. Been great to get to know him, nice New England kid.
