Legends of Golf and Football Play Together in James Hardie Pro Football Hall of Fame Invitational; Pairings Announced
Inaugural Golf Tournament Takes Place March 31 to April 6 at The Old Course at Broken Sound in Boca Raton
Boca Raton, FL – March 31, 2025 – The James Hardie™ Pro Football Hall of Fame Invitational today announced the pairings of PGA TOUR Champions players and Pro Football Hall of Famers for this week’s inaugural golf tournament. The James Hardie™ Invitational will feature 26 Pro Football Hall of Fame legends competing alongside 78 PGA TOUR Champions professionals at The Old Course at Broken Sound in Boca Raton, Florida.
There are three pairings that feature Hall of Famers from each sport: Vijay Singh playing with “Megatron” Calvin Johnson, Retief Goosen paired with receiver Steve Largent; and Colin Montgomerie with safety Roger Wehrli. They will play the first two rounds together Friday and Saturday with the NFL players using a handicap for the best-ball event. Other marquee pairings include John Daly with longtime Miami Dolphins nemesis Andre Reed, the ex-Buffalo receiver; Boo Weekley and the loquacious Warren Sapp; Stuart’s Ken Duke and Lawrence Taylor; Jerry Kelly and Jerome Bettis; Billy Andrade with Ronde Barber; and David Duval with running back Terrell Davis (Denver connection).
“You don’t often get the chance to see the absolute best at what they do in the NFL and professional golf playing alongside each other,” said Ken Kennerly, Executive Director, James Hardie™ Pro Football Hall of Fame Invitational. “I know the golfers are excited about this rare opportunity. I’m sure the fans will be, too.”
The tournament, which starts April 4 at the Old Course at Broken Sound Club, is different because it will have 26 Pro Football Hall of Famers teaming with PGA Tour Champions players during the first two rounds. The PGA Tour Champions players will then complete their separate 54-hole competition in the final round when they play by themselves. The PGA Tour Champions has held a tournament at Broken Sound since 2007, but this is the first time the championship has legends from the NFL involved during the first two rounds. The 78-player PGA Tour Champions field will be finalized Tuesday when four golfers advance in a qualifier at Lost Lake Golf Club in Hobe Sound.
The full list of pairings: Billy Andrade and Ronde Barber, Steve Flesch and Anthony Munoz, Darren Clarke and Demarcus Ware, Tim Petrovic and Dwight Freeney, Thomas Bjorn and Richard Dent, John Daly and Andre Reed, Miguel Angel Jiminez and John Randle, Vijay Sing and Calvin Johnson, Ken Duke and Lawrence Taylor, Chris DiMarco and Brian Kelley, Boo Weekley and Warren Sapp, Glen Day and Jimmie Giles, Dicky Pride and Rickey Jackson, Brett Quigley and Mike Haynes, Retief Goosen and Steve Largent, Tom Lehman and Randall McDaniel, Tim O’Neal and Tim Brown, Freddie Jacobson and Jan Stenerud, Colin Montgomerie and Roger Wehrli, Jerry Kelly and Jerome Bettis, David Duval and Terrell Davis, Corey Pavin and Jonathan Ogden, Scott McCarron and Nat Moore, Fred Funk and Ed Reed, Kenny Perry and Cris Carter, Paul Goydos and Marshall Faulk.
