TGL Double-Dip, NY Loses Two Matches – The Bay Gets a Much Need Win, and Boston Clinches Playoff Birth

Palm Beach Gardens, Fl – A rare double-dip at the SoFi center, saw the New York Golf Club lose back-to-back matches – while The Bay continued its winning ways with a 5-3 victory. It appears that The Bay has New York’s number. The match featured the same players and singles matchups from the TGL Season 1 debut on Jan. 7, 2025, when The Bay reeled off six straight points on its way to a 9-2 rout over NY.

With the win, The Bay moves to 2-2-0, still in the hunt for a playoff spot. The Bay joins Atlanta (3-2-0), Los Angeles (2-2-0), and Boston Common Golf (2-10) with at least two wins in Season 2.

The Bay started hot once again with three points right out of the gate. NY clawed its way back into the match to tie it up at one point, but a pivotal moment of the match occurred on Alpine (13th hole) when, with the match knotted at 3-3, The Bay threw the Hammer and momentarily took the lead when NY declined. However, the Hammer was returned to The Bay when TGL’s rules committee determined Xander had already addressed his ball in the bunker when the Hammer was thrown. With the score returned to 3-3, Schauffele left his third shot in the bunker and The Bay once again led going to the final two holes.

Windham Clark came up big at the par-3 14 hole (The Last Toll) when he hit his tee shot just inside 8 feet. After NY declined the Hammer, The Bay scored the final points of the night for a 5-3 advantage.

Next week (3/3), The Bay faces Jupiter Links Golf Club in a prime-time battle to secure a spot in the playoffs.

Boston Common Hands NY Its Second Loss of The Night

One night after losing to Atlanta Drive GC for its first loss of the season, the boys from Beantown returned with a new lineup and notched a big W over New York GC.

A new lineup for Boston saw Keegan Bradley, Hideki Matsuyama, and Adam Scott together for the first time. It was Adam and Hideki’s season 2 debut, and their first time playing on the revamped green complex at SoFi.

The impressive 9-2 win secured Boston’s place in the playoffs. At 3-1-0, Boston and joins the Atlanta Drive as the only two teams with three wins, and securing a spot in the postseason. In season 1, Boston finished with an 0-4-1 record and was one of two teams not advancing past the regular season.

Adam Scott had a slow start Tuesday night on the greens, missing two makeable putts inside 10 feet. He made amends in Singles against Cameron Young going 2-0, making several clutch putts in the process:

NY led 2-1 thru the first five holes, but lost the next five consecutive holes 6-10.

On Sunday 3/1, Boston Common will play its final match of the regular season vs Jupiter Links at 9pm.
