Monterey, California – Tom Hoge sank the putt of his life – a 25 footer for birdie on the iconic 17th hole at Pebble Beach Golf Links on Sunday that provided the two-shot margin for his first PGA Tour victory at the 2022 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Hoge fired a final round 68 to outlast Jordan Spieth by two strokes (69).
On Sunday, Hoge got off to a slow start with a front nine 36, but the inward half, which is often thought of as the much tougher test, proved to be the difference maker for the Fargo, North Dakota native. As it appeared to be Spieth’s tournament, Hoge heated up. Hoge, the leader after round 1 was making a charge. His back nine 32 was a mistake-free display of the type golf usually displayed by the elite in the game. Hoge birdied three of Pebble’s last five holes just when he needed it.
Hoge was 19-under for the tournament and won $1.56 million in prize money, the largest of his career. The PGA Tour win gives Hoge his first invite to the Masters. Hoge had been showing good form of late with a solo second at the American Express a few weeks ago in Palm Springs. The former TCU standout’s only other professional victory came in 2011 on the Canadian Tour.
Beau Hossler finished solo third after a final round 71.
