Testing: The Shot Scope Pro L1 provides a very quick target response on any object including bunkers, trees, and locking in on flagsticks. The red display reading is a feature that makes this device stand out among value priced rangefinders. Easy function with all buttons and switches – which are exactly where they need to be. The on-course experience with the PRO L1 was as easy as can be.

Pros:

  • Target-lock vibration
  • Quick readings and responses to targets
  • Fantastic optics especially the RED option
  • Slope function.
  • A whopping 875 yards of distance reading range!
  • Long battery life
  • Value

Cons:

  • Lightweight plastic feel – durability (blue trim on casing scuffed easily just from being kept in the cart cup holder ).
  • Molded plastic textured grip sections aren’t up to standard when compared to leading competitors.

Summary: Overall, the Shot Scope L1 laser rangefinder is a very impressive device in the value category. Shot Scope seized on a section of the marketplace that was somewhat untapped (offering slope, target-lock vibration, and red optics in the $200 range. The only option missing from the L1 is a magnet for cart mounting. Might be the best value in the golf distance measuring industry – A device worthy of acquiring. (MSRP of $199).
