Season 2 – Match 13, Boston Holds Off Jupiter Links in OT

The Common Secure the No.1 Seed, Jup Links on the Brink of Elimination

Palm Beach Gardens – Boston Common Golf secured the No.1 seed by surviving a late fury by Jupiter Links Golf that led to overtime. In defeat, Jupiter did earn a point to narrowly keep their playoff hopes alive.

“We put the work in,” Keegan Bradley said. “We want to get better every time we come in here, but this means a lot to us, playing for the city of Boston. To be the No. 1 seed in the playoffs means a lot and we’re excited.”

Boston had it’s chances to put the match away, especially with Jupiter out of Hammers down the stretch. Hideki Matsuyama missed an 8-footer at No. 14 to seal the win. Tom Kim made birdie to tie the match on the final hole, but it was Jupiter’s early use of all of their Hammers that may have kept them from stealing the match in regulation.

The reigning Masters Champion got the night started by belting a 392.3-yard drive on the opening tee shot, the longest in TGL history. Keegan Bradley then drilled the 10ft putt to give the Ballfrogs a 1-0 lead.

In singles, the most influential shot of the night didn’t yield a birdie or an eagle, it was a miraculous par save that halved the hole… it came on hole 13, McIlroy vs Bahtia on Stinger. After hitting it off the rocks into the water off the tee. Rory hit a shot that was reminescent of his 15th at Augusta National in the final round of the 2025 Masters. An epic 240-yard draw to 7 feet. He converted the par putt to tie the hole and keep it 6-4 with two to play.

McIlroy’s Stinger approach gets our vote as the best shot in TGL history.

OVERTIME

In a best-of-three closest-to-the-pin shootout, Boston took the first matchup when Bradley’s shot hit the flagstick and settled to just past 2ft. Jupiter won the next attempt when McIlroy hit his shot into a greenside bunker. Then Matsuyama bested Homa by four inches to secure the win.

“It looked like we had it, and it was frustrating. I feel for the guys. They fought hard… It came down to the last shot, and, unfortunately, it’s hard. It’s part of our sport, it’s part of competition. It’s frustrating when you end up on this side of it.” – Tiger Woods

“It was sort of back and forth all night. I felt like Jupiter played well, we were trading birdies and they played all the way to the end … We knew we clinched the playoffs anyways, but obviously a great way to end the regular season with a win.” – Rory McIlroy
