The Piper, a new nine-hole short course designed by architect Ken Baker, officially opened to the public on Oct. 2, 2026 at Legends Golf Resort in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Set on 12 acres directly behind the resort’s clubhouse, The Piper features holes ranging in distances of 54 to 120 yards. .. the ideal addition to the resort’s existing trilogy of Heathland, Moorland, and Parkland courses, all top shelf 18-hole layouts that offer varied styles of design and challenge.

According to the folks at Legends – The Piper course is laid out in three-hole loops so guests can play three, six or nine holes in about an hour with lights and music, creating an entirely new social golf experience for the Grand Strand. On the first tee, a restored red telephone booth that was used on the property in the 1990s now serves as a starter’s box and a nod to the resort’s history. The Piper name was an inspiration from the wandering musicians of Scottish folklore, whose melodies were said to guide travelers, summon spirits or lead people astray. True to its heritage, The Piper invites players to find their own rhythm across nine distinctive holes, each representing a verse in the Piper’s song.
The Piper is a strategic addition to the resort’s golf experience, which includes all-inclusive golf across five award-winning 18-hole courses and onsite lodging with spacious villas and condos.
The layout encourages a variety of approaches to the green and a focus on the ground game, challenging players to think creatively around the course. With holes ranging from 54 yards to 122 yards, The Piper emphasizes creativity, strategy and shotmaking over distance, making it ideal for a warm-up round, an afternoon match among friends or bonus holes at the end of the day.

With an intimate footprint across 12 acres, The Piper is designed so guests can take in the full view of the course from the clubhouse patio, watching players across multiple greens at once.
The Piper features six elements that enhance the experience:
Social Core – Patio bar and grill, stage/function area, Adirondack seating and cigar bar.
Food & Beverage – Multiple food and beverage touchpoints positioned near guest flow and event areas.
Guest Movement – Compact routing, walkable access and event-style circulation support both golfers and spectators.
Practice Integration – Located near the existing practice range, chipping green and short-game areas.
Evening Play – Fully lit for nighttime rounds, group competitions, music-driven events and casual gatherings.
Creative Shotmaking – Short holes, open green entries and a ground-game focus encourage different shots each time
