Our initial test with Squid Socks came on the heels (pun not intended) of an unfortunate experience wearing a less-than-worthy brand of socks made by a brand called Pair of Thieves – an underwear brand sold in many large chain stores. here’s the short story…
On a recent trip to play a top 5 course in the world, I made the fatal error of wearing new golf shoes AND new socks for our 18-hole walk (not Squid Socks). The shoes passed the test with flying colors – no issues. The socks not so much, they moved all over the place, and every 100 steps or so it was an issue, the socks would end up sliding down into the insoles, and I had to continually stop to yank them back onto my feet. No matter what I did, this continued throughout the round.
So, when I returned home it was ironic the Squid Socks package arrived. I’ve tested them on and off the course several times since, and there’s been no slippage at all, they provide superior comfort all day long. After I bragged to my wife about the grip, she started wearing them around the house… even though we have a huge disparity in shoe size (I’m a 11.5-12, and she’s a ladies size 7), she may have made them her own at this point.
