Max Homa Entertains and Conquers at Torrey Pines

San Diego, Ca – Max Homa did it all in San Diego. He entertained the TV audience on Friday when he was mic’d up during play of the third round of the Farmers Insurance Open, and took over the competition on Saturday to capture his sixth career win after a final round 66 on Torrey Pines South Course.

Homa who overcame a five-shot deficit entering Saturday’s final round (played a day earlier than usual because of the NFL Playoffs on Sunday), was the natural choice to debut the new feature, the likable SoCal native has more than 500k followers on Twitter. “Everybody else calls me the social media guy,” Homa said. “I still think I’m a pretty darn good golfer. I like to say dumb things and make dumb jokes and observe weird stuff and tweet about them. . . but when I work, when I practice, when I play tournaments, this is what I love. I love what today was. It was incredible.”

54-hole leader Sam Ryder came undone starting with a double bogey at the par-4 15th hole that dropped him out of the lead. Ryder finished tied for fourth, after a 3-over 75.

Four of Homa’s victories have come in his home state of California. Jubilant afterwards, Homa declared, “It’s a beautiful game, sometimes you’re just one good swing thought from being good again.” Homa won $1,566,000.
