Scheffler Continues Torrid Season, Wins Masters

Scottie Scheffler celebrates after winning the 86th Masters at Augusta National

Augusta, Ga – World No.1 Scottie Scheffler continued his dominant season – winning the Masters on Sunday at Augusta National and four of his last six worldwide starts. Although Cam Smith threatened early, making birdie on the first two holes, Scheffler kept his composure and remained in the pole position throughout, carding a final-round 71 to finish at 278 total 10-under for the tournament – three shots ahead of Rory McIlroy who fired a final rd 64.

Leading by five on the last, Scheffler may have lost a bit of focus when he had a tough time finishing out on the 18th green – taking four putts to seal the deal for his first major championship win. Scheffler has had a meteoric rise to the top, getting his first PGA Tour victory on Super Bowl Sunday at the Waste Management Phoenix Open in February, with the Masters being is his fourth win in just 8 weeks. He handled the pressure (of being the tournament’s leader for nearly three days) like a veteran player – taking the lead Friday afternoon and never relinquished it again. He was the only player to card all four rounds under par (69-67-71-71).

Afterward, Scheffler remained his usual low-key humble self, giving big credit to his new caddie – Ted Scott and mentioned how they remained committed to all 72 holes. “Just staying present is what works best for me, this is such a fun golf course, such a fun piece of property. It’s Augusta National, it’s as cool as it gets. I can’t believe I get to come back here for a lifetime and I get to enjoy this course.

Rory McIlroy and Collin Morikawa both holed out back to back from the right greenside bunker on the last in spectacular fashion.

Scheffler won $2.7 million, the Green Jacket and a place at the coveted Tuesday dinner next year .
